"More People = More Mission"  by Lee Berger

Crossing Borders has completed over 25 mission trips into Mexico a the rate of two trips per year.  Compared to our earlier trips, there are more people involved in the recent trips, which creates opportunity for new involvement for all concerned.  More People = More Mission.

How are more people involved?  First, there are more people participating in preparing for the trip.  For instance, when we began taking shoebox gifts into Mexico in 2006, we had three or four churches involved, donating about 150 total shoeboxes.  These days we usually have over a dozen churches, clubs and other groups involved and we are blessed with over 1000 shoebox gifts to distribute to some very needy children.

Also, as more people become aware of Crossing Borders, there are more people involved in praying for this ministry both as we are making advance preparations and when we travel across the border.  Many thanks to all of you who remember Crossing Borders in prayer; it makes a huge difference!

We also generally have more missionaries participating directly in the trips: sometimes up to 20 or 25, compared to early trips with 10-15 people.  More missionaries = more person-to-person interaction with the people we serve.  It also means that the “mission experience and mindset” is taken back to more churches and communities by those involved, spreading the attitude to “be on mission wherever you are”—in your own family, in school, with friends and neighbors, in the workplace, and with strangers.  Jesus is at work everywhere!

God also brings more people for us to serve on today’s trips.  Small buildings are often packed with over 200 expectant and joyful people, and we make visits to multiple sites on each trip.  We share in God’s love as we sing songs, give a Bible message, share our testimonies, serve some food, talk and laugh, play games with the kids, listen and pray for the people, give out useful gifts, and create strong fellowship bonds (over the years) with our Mexican ministry partners.

I wish you could all be there to see the radiant faces of these children as they excitedly greet us on our arrival and soak up the love we share with them.  The love and  appreciation of kids and adults is an amazing sight and experience.  The accompanying photos give a glimpse of God’s love at work in these dear lives.

Muchas gracias to everyone who supports these mission trips!  Crossing Borders’ trips into Mexico normally take place on the second weekend of December and the third full week of June (subject to change).  Send an email to info@cbmission.org or call 903-746-4463 for more information.
